While I've been an eBay buyer for many years, I'm new at selling. Yesterday I got the message below for a camcorder I am selling, which is not available Internationally: "Hello, I am really interested in your item and I need it right away because it will be a gift. Please email me the final price including shipping to Spain via FedEx 3 Days Express. For payment I prefer to use an escrow service that protects both buyer and seller against fraud. I will pay the shipping and escrow fees. If we...

I sell unbreakable items for under $15 and ship about half with Free Shipping. The Optional Insurance Description I added - not responsible for lost in shipping $1.50 Insurance - I felt protected me against Buyers saying it was not received and it really was. Ebay's new policy of making me remove that will make Me and other Sellers a real target for FRAUD from Buyers. I feel all of the changes eBay is making has been sticking it to the Sellers! If I add Insurance now my cost of shipping...

I bought a KG800 Phone off ebay a few months ago along with the squaretrade warranty for that phone. The seller is a platinum seller and member of the Squaretrade community. On the auction, there was a link to purchase an extended warranty for the phone, a LG KG800 (the Choclate), from Squaretrade. The only reason I bought the phone was because there was a warranty being offered. Two months later and my phone broke. I contacted VAC Service Co. (the company that handles warranties for...

Here is my latest checklist for you folks: Tips for Avoiding the Fraudulent Escrow Service Scam. Always consider every escrow company to be fraudulent until you have checked them out and proven them to be real. Do not use a seller's positive feedback to gauge their honesty! Too many of you are using the wrong criteria to determine someone’s honesty on eBay. The eBay feedback system was great in its day, and might still be ok to use for books, CDs, DVDs, etc., but not for big ticket...

I would appreciate any advice on this issue. Buyer purchases a musical instrument of substantial value ($2,000.00.) Item is shipped fully insured, professionally packed by UPS itself in addition to item's hardshell case (Pack & Promise guaranteed.) Buyer receives shipment, signs for it and then asserts item damaged in shipment. Buyer takes pictures of allegedly damaged item. UPS is called for claim. Buyer is instructed to retain boxing/packing materials and agrees. Buyer is instructed...

I've had several potential buyers complain about Shipping Costs with Insurance included being too high. "I'd buy your item but your shipping cost is too high" as one potential buyer put it. I've decided that IF I ever sell on Ebay again that I'm just going to charge for FIRST CLASS USPS POSTAGE and if the item isn't recieved, the buyer can than take it up with Ebay and the USPS! I keep all of my reciepts from mailing sold items and that's all I am going to keep to show that the item was sent...

I am looking to purchase football tickets and the seller says he lives in London, UK now and would have to use Purchase Safe for payment. I am afraid that we are about to get scammed since I have never heard of such. Anybody know anything about Purchase Safe? Is is legit?

I've been selling Star Wars posters for months, sending them to US and other countries. I pack very carefully. And I use USPS insurance (Or third party insurance for out-of-country with Express International mail). So - guy receives mint condition poster. Tube looks like somebody stomped on the end. The poster is no longer mint. On side has crinkles all along left edge. Buyer doesn't want it. My goal? Return his money. How to do it? Via USPS insurance claim? Or through Paypal? In...

I've been selling since '98 but have not listed any items since the changes in insurance policies. As I understand it, I can no longer require nor make optional shipping insurance. If I want the item to be insured I must do that myself. If I want to add it to the cost of the item it must be done through "handling" fees or added to the "set-in" price of the item. If it is added to the "set-in" price then eBay gets a percentage of it as part of the sales price. If added to the handling fee...

Buyer sent message after they won the item asking me to insure the item, here is the message: Does shipping include insurance? I was told by someone that eBay changed their rules and sellers aren't allowed to charge for insurance. Now it is ambiguous to the buyer as to whether they get insurance. I do want insurance. Please advise. I responded: No this Item is not insured. There is a Handling fee included in the Shipping because I do Package well. The Insurance Fee on this purchase...

I dont know about all of you, but Im sick of ebays policy changes. I hated the feedback change, It is unfair, now the insurance? Im considering trying another auction site. It seems every month or two brings another change, always in the buyers favor, I feel like Im on a merry go round, and Im about to get sick. why is it our responsibility to make sure an item gets to the buyer, what if its lost or stolen? do we have to eat it? I can see problems on the horizon. Someone get me a puke bag.

Which of these are legit? Are they both? Are neither of them legitimate? I bought an Xbox 360 and would like a warranty on it. I have the choice to go with either of these, but I'm not sure which is better or if either of them are good. Can you guys help?

I shipped a ceramic item to an APO address with USPS insurance added. The item was double boxed and in perfect condition when I mailed it.I I initially received an e-mail from the buyer accusing me of purposely sending a damaged item and that he would "take action"if I didn't refund. I sent an e-mail back thanking him for contacting me and asked if he could describe the damage to me as I would be filing an insurance claim.I also asked him to retain the item along with the packaging as it...

I just sent an item that was good when it left but arrived damaged. I just printed the label, paid through papal and dropped it off at the ups store. It left intact but apparently the guy who bought it received it damaged. What is supposed to happen now? I'm pretty busy at the moment and don't have the time to spend hours reading user agreements and ebay policies nor do I need the expertise in this since I don't sell much and it hasn't been an issue yet. Could someone just give me the abridged...

Ok, I'm a little confused here. I know that eBay did away with optional insurance. What exactly does this mean? Is insurance now required on every item shipped? Is it no longer up to the buyer if they want or don't want insurance? Does the seller now decide to insure or not to insure? If insurance is required, how would eBay enforce this rule? Do you really have to insure every $3 item? Could someone spell this out to me, and clear up the confusion?
