This Buyer/Paypal Insurance protection policy means that the buyer is protected , should their package get lost forever by USPS ( with Paypal label + tracking), and the protection is....The full amount is taken out of MY Paypal account...that's the insurance they are referring to! I lose either way!...Happened to me this week! What a deal! Only in America!!!

As a buyer...and a Power Seller....I am furious with all the changes eBay is making. This latest "improvement" is that we can no longer offer (or buy) insurance on eBay items. What is the matter with these people? Do they have nothing to do but try to drive us all off the site?. If anyone at eBay is reading these boards, PLEASE, PLEASE cancel this policy. I do NOT want to raise the cost of the items in my store and include insurance on everything. The justification that other etailers...

I sold a woodworking tool to a person in Canada. When the buyer received the tool, it broke during transit. He immediately blamed me for poor packaging even though I packed it well in a large box and used bubble wrap. I have shipped tools all over the world in the same manner without having any break. I told him to file a claim through USPS or Canadian post office since Priority International comes with insurance. He emails me back claiming that I have to make the claim since I shipped it....

I purchased a plasma TV, it arrived cracked not working. Now more than 45 days have passed, seller won't answer emails, and still hasn't refunded the cost of the TV - thousands of dollars. Since it's past 45 days I can't make a complaint through ebay or PayPal. Seller has to make the claim on the courier, when I first contacted him he asked me to email photos and description of the damage, serial number, etc. He kept me updated on the progress of the claim, sent about 15 emails. Naively, I...

I recently was reading about a case where a seller shipped an item and the buyer received the package but said the item was not included. Paypal sided with the buyer and the seller is out $250 + the item. All the seller could do was post some warnings about dealing with this particular buyer. Luckily a rarity but how can one protect oneself from this sort of scam?

I am looking to purchase football tickets and the seller says he lives in London, UK now and would have to use Purchase Safe for payment. I am afraid that we are about to get scammed since I have never heard of such. Anybody know anything about Purchase Safe? Is is legit?

I recent sold an item on ebay, however the buyer wants me to ship to another address that is not confirmed on ebay or paypal. He lives out of the country and will be vacationing in the US for a week in which he wants me to ship the item. Now I was told that sometimes buyers do this so that they can claim that they did not receive the item. Even if I have a confirmation from my shipping company, due to the fact the address isn't recognized by ebay or paypal, the buyer could get a full...

I bought a KG800 Phone off ebay a few months ago along with the squaretrade warranty for that phone. The seller is a platinum seller and member of the Squaretrade community. On the auction, there was a link to purchase an extended warranty for the phone, a LG KG800 (the Choclate), from Squaretrade. The only reason I bought the phone was because there was a warranty being offered. Two months later and my phone broke. I contacted VAC Service Co. (the company that handles warranties for...

As a seller I'm so confused on ebays insurance policy.....is it mandatory or not to include shipping insurance on each and every item listed? I thought it was, but maybe I'm not getting all the info correct. I see sooo many sellers not including or offering shipping insurance. With the price of insurance I find myself wanting to offer it if the buyer wants to pay for it, but should I be including it in the shipping cost either way? Does anyone know if it's mandatory??? Thanks and any info...

The scam artists who are using a phony escrow service (eBay Square Trade) to get people to wire money are using the scam on NFL playoff tickets. Don't be fooled.

If you wonder if an escrow site someone has asked you to use is legitimate or a fraud, please add the site URL in a new post added to this topic. Note that I need the full URL, that is, every thing after the Link. Please don't leave off the Top level domain (.com, .net, .org, .us or whatever) as that makes it very difficult to identify the site you're interested in. I'll research any site people ask about and add the response at the end of this topic within a day. I'll also be adding...

Here is my latest checklist for you folks: Tips for Avoiding the Fraudulent Escrow Service Scam. Always consider every escrow company to be fraudulent until you have checked them out and proven them to be real. Do not use a seller's positive feedback to gauge their honesty! Too many of you are using the wrong criteria to determine someone’s honesty on eBay. The eBay feedback system was great in its day, and might still be ok to use for books, CDs, DVDs, etc., but not for big ticket...
