I've heard ebay recently changed their policies about negative feedback. As a buyer, if I leave a negative feedback to a seller who took my money but did not ship the item to me, can this person retaliate and also give me a negative feedback?

I left honest neg FB for a seller who tried to make money off of the shipping costs even after being warned that such actions would not be tolerated and would be rewarded in FB accordingly. The items were an unbelievable bargain but shipping was way out there. I wrote and requested new shipping calculations and and it was reduced a tiny bit. I told the seller that I would be comparing the actual shipping on the package to what I had been charged and act accordingly. ( I absolutely hate being...

I purchased a rather hard to find part at a very good price. The description was very short, so I had to rely mostly on the pics. I really did not have the time to post questions as it was an auction with a Buy-it-now option and I knew it would sell quickly. I messaged seller and said I was hoping it came with the correct screws. He said it did not, but he had a set that he would add. He also asked me (politely, and as a favor) to post immediate positive feedback so that his funds would be...

Ok, I'm trying to help someone decide how much of a refund they should make to a buyer. Here's the situation The guy sold a used but working computer for about 50% less than what he wanted for it. It ships (exact shipping charged), the day the buyer receives it he emails the seller (typing in all caps) talking about how it isn't as advertised and the unit was DOA. And demanding a return label be emailed ASAP. Seller asks could they attempt to troubleshoot the unit before they waste time...

alot of the time, no communication takes place between buyer and seller because the transaction works out smoothly, so you could potentially get a low rating even if all of the other categories are perfect

Don't ask me why but this has popped into my mind more than once. In every man and woman relationship it seems like the woman is always on the right side. I wonder why that is Myself......always on right every time Parents.....mom on right Rosanne....on right Brady mom....on right Edith Bunker...on right. Anyone know a left side mama??? I know its a silly thread....but do we have to be angry all the time? Oldklutz's This That and the Other .

Re: Item # 310175965861 I purchased this on October 22. I bought a money order and mailed it the very next day, though I did miss the last mail collection of the day by 20 minutes, and it didn't really leave town until October 24. The payment went to Ohio from Kansas. On October 28 the seller marked my item as paid. On October 30 it showed a tracking number for the item, 420660329101148008600317942165, though ever since then it only shows that the post office has been notified to...

I'd like to leave feedback for a transaction, but ebay broke the links for an unexplained reason. Auction ended, I paid for item and seller shipped it just fine. Then, after the fact (about 1-2 days later) eBay removed the listed with no explanation. Now the transaction doesn't even show up (like it never existed). How do I leave feedback for the seller? Or and I just screwed?

I recently listed an item and the buyer ended the auction with "Buy it Now" and paid for the item using paypal, but then he reversed the transaction. I just was browsing my account and my ebay bill says I owe $21 for listing the auction. How does that make any sense? Why am I paying ebay to list an item even if a sketchy buyer backs out of the transaction? Can you guys help me get this figured out... ebay customer service is not helping me

I'll admit it...I'm a moron...or at least in this case I am. I sent out a hoodie that was won on Oct. 23. IT WAS NOT PAID FOR YET! I had sold another one exactly like it a week or so before, and I got them mixed up. What's worse is buyer has a feedback of 1. Can I still give them an unpaid item strike? Guess I can kiss the money goodbye, and hoodie goodbye!!!

Sometime ago,on some board somewhere, I read some random topic about what DSRs seller should get for a mistake in listing/item. I don't really want to take sides, it may or may not have been accurate what OP and seller described, but one post in that thread from another buyer kinda irked me. If the seller gives a full refund and pays for the return shipping, I would give a positive and a 5 on all the DSRs. If the seller does not pay for return shipping, then I would give a negative and...

The vast majority of quality high-volume Sellers leave an automated positive feedback for the Buyer triggered by their payment. Something like "Fast payer. Thank you for your business.". It doesn't matter whether the Buyer paid fast or not. The Seller's positive is just a symbolic gesture to the Buyer thanking them for the payment. The reasons they do this are quite logical. First, it is polite. It reflects well on their professionalism and confidence as a Seller. Second, it is a waste of...

I am at least 40 positive feedbacks short of what I should have. I always pay quick and give positive feedback right away. From now on I will waste a few more moments of my life sending a message to buyers that I have received the item(s) and that they were received in satisfactory condition. I will then communicate that they will receive their feedback AFTER I get mine. I am the customer. That's my money in your pocket. Recently, after a week or so of silence, I sent a message to a...

To me it seems very odd that you would not get your feedback as soon as you pay them. You have done your part and have fulfilled your end of the auction so why do some sellers do this? Perhaps someone can enlighten me on the possible reasons, because nothing I can come up with makes any sense.

The small priority FRB is actually a simple re-label of a long time ordinary priority box. The new one says FRB, the old one not. I have maybe 20 of the old ones. Any ideas as to how risky it would be to just use them as FRBs (FRB postage) in cases where it weighs over 1 lb? Yeah, I know they're free, and I know I can discard the old ones, but it seems unpleasant to do so.

Wow! Some people have extreme patience. I just received a negative feedback in retaliation for feedback I left more than 18 months ago. The recent transaction was #220493174523 and his feedback was a near duplicate to the comment I left him on June 16, 2008. It's easy to find as he hasn't had more than 50 transactions in the last 2 years. This is clearly retaliatory for several reasons (despite the long delay): 1) The comment is near identical to mine 2) $2.50 s&h is a far cry from...

I bought a pitcher described as glass. When I got it, it is not glass but porcelain. Notified the seller, she said return it for a refund She apologized, saying she is still learning about antiques. Assuming I get the refund as promised, positive feedback is clearly in order. How many stars for "item as described" since it was described as glass and is not? Besides the return shipping I am out, shouldn't other bidders know that she is " still learning" ? Also, charged $6.50 shipping for...

I used to leave everyone feedback, but since you can't leave anything but possitives, I only leave it for newbies who don't have a star yet. I also leave it for good sellers who also buy, since feedback is important for their "good standing" in ebay. NOW DOESN'T THIS TICK OFF A LOT OF BUYERS??? I hope so. I hope they get so ticked off that they run to ebay and beg for the old feedback system!!! p.s. I have had more dishonest buyers than ever since the new feedback policy. THANKS A LOT EBAY.

I'd like some current points of view when it comes to sellers requesting feedback from buyers. Back in the day, I was a PS on eBay; and during that time the star rating system was already in place. Also, during that time, it was considered to be a Faux Pas for a seller to ask for, remind a buyer, or explain the system to a buyer. Just curious, is this standard now?

I still don't understand this policy of sellers withholding feedback until they receive positive (yes, positive only) feedback from the buyer. Now, maybe I'm new to the concept of buying and selling, but as a buyer, once I've won and paid for said item, my responsibility is done, and therefore I am DUE my feedback. If you're a stand-up seller, ethical, moral, and all that, and you uphold your responsibilities in the purchase, there should be no paranoia about receiving negative feedback....

Ran across this at the end of an auction description and wanted a little FB about how you see it. I understand it's not against policy, just a bit of a turn off for me. What do you think? "Feedback will only be left after you the buyer, leaves feedback to me, the seller."

For instance, I have only paid for an item and the seller FB's "A++++++ BUYER GREAT COMMUNICATION". I haven't done anything to deserve this as a feedback. "Used paypal paid w/in 1hr of winning" would've been better. As it is I had to ask "where is it". Turns out they haven't shipped it yet and won't ship for a week. This is where I FB "Doesn't communicate well" because the seller should've said that as soon as I paid. I'm tired of this. This negates FB. Who really cares to look at it...

I'd ask the responses to be snark free, but I'm sure that will just open me up to more snarks. I'm just trying to understand eBay's reasoning as to why Sellers can ONLY leave positive feedback, or no feedback at all. Is it because a buyer's ONLY obligation is to pay for the item, and if they don't do so it is handled in another way? That seems unfair. Shouldn't we be able to leave a mark on their account for the world to see, indicating that they refused to pay? Please enlighten me.
