Canceled my MissionFish donations

Canceled my MissionFish donations

After two unpleasant experiences of dealing with this "organization" , I've decided to cancel any auctions I have with them listed and donate directly to my charities of choice via their websites. I would encourage anyone else who's having problems with them to do the same.  It seems ridiculous to me that you cannot call them directly if you have issues. You can only send an email. eBay is unable to provide any assistance other than to refer you to their email address.  I don't understand how a company can operate this way and I refuse to support it any longer by having auctions that would benefit them.  Who's with me? :)

You are not alone in having been BURNED AND RIPPED-OFF by Mssionfish I will tell you even if you cancel all donations they will appear again IF you reuse any auction template you used when you made a donation, EVEN if you uncheck the donation giving. AND you need to go into “site preferences” and under “3rd party billing” open that and check the box to “Revoke” authorization of missionfish..now here comes another sly trick they use, IF you even look at the “donation” part of your seller dashboard they will automatically re add themselves as an authorized 3rd party to your paypal account and recharge you over and over. I have been on the phone several times and over several hours with paypal, ebay ect Ebay owns PayPal, Missionfish and Ebay, guess what X-( you are paying the same company over and over I figure Im loosing at least ½ of my money maybe more, I have let my final items dwindle and am looking at other auction sites. I have had enough of Missionfish stealing from me.

This sleazy organization is the worst.  I have warned several of my local charities to opt out.

**Update* after a LONG process Missionfish contacted me (by phone even  :-p ) I must say Ryanne is a lovely asset to Ebay-giving works BUT this process is still flawed and I still cannot with good conciseness recommend getting involved with missionfish.

I was able to have a whole 6.00 refunded but I am out over 30.00!!  I was told I could go to each charity to request a refund but as anyone else who does not have time to run down 30.00 worth of $2, $3,$5 ect donations that add up to $30+ ...most like me will cut their loses and I still say until Ebay gets a working phone number for missionfish and hires more the 2 people to handle all the money world wide they taking in AVOID MISSIONFISH LIKE THE PLAGUE UNTIL FIXED

** Please note,  I have responded to a request by Ebay giving works to update this, I must also add I feel charity's are good things and I would have loved to kept giving but only what I determine, not what is taken from me. A system will not fix itself, Ebay owns missionfish (and Paypal) we need change and they need to hear us, by no means is this a personal attack on any employee and I am hoping with more attention. Ebay will fix this.

It's always been beneficial to come here and learn from the alumni of the school of hard knocks!

This time I came over to learn more about ebay Giving Works and Mission Fish before I "go seller."

Got a nearly endless collection of toys in the attic, and while I need revenue, I don't think I want to raise it from a mega-herd of My Little Ponys and related paraphernalia (they will be the first to go!) so....I thought I'd sell them for charity.

As usual, this turns out to be horrifically complicated.  I'm ok with donating 100% of the proceeds, making no money; but I absolutely can't afford to LOSE any.  Selling involves shipping, and that involves packaging materials and (in my limited experience) unpleasant surprises at the post office when they tell you what it really will cost to ship it.

But I need that attic space emptied -- need it bad enough to take a whack at selling on ebay.

Now you tell me that Mission Fish gets a cut and maybe they've got more surprises up their sleeve besides.

Is there a way to list something for sale on ebay, without cutting MF in on the deal?  If you "revoke authorization" of MF, or in my case never extend it in the first place, can you still list an auction as a charity auction and have ebay/paypal send the payment directly to the charity? (Less the infernal shipping charges.)

While I'm at it, does Paypal take a cut too?

Any advice appreciated, no matter how basic.  :)

May I ask you somthing. I want to know if you have ever had this happen. I had all my listings pulled, some where just about to end and and good bids, my buyers were not notified, they were just pulled. I received 3 emails, the same, stating that Love Stray had closed their program with MissionFish and were no longer accepting donation. Customer Support and Trust and Safety told me Love Strays had specifically stated to remove my listings they were in. I have given to them before. I go from one charity to another. An ebay rep asked if I was affilated with that charity and I SAID of course not. It has just upset me so much  all those listings most with good bids and gone. They said I could relist if I TAKE love strays off of it. I just don't get it. I am getting 3 messages from ebay saying they closed their account, then ebay reps are saying they wanted their stuff taken off my listing. I NEED some help.

I have had the same experience with MissionFish -- I got worried when it was so difficult accessing them from my ebay account.  To cancel MissionFish, go to your PayPal profile and go to My Preapproved Payments, click on Update.  There you can make MissionFish inactive.  From what I've read, it looks like they will try again...

WOW....Think I made a BOO-BOO setting up a bunch of donation listings with this outfit...
My first clue was after I sold something with 25% to my charity I went to my charities ebay site and this is what I found

"Currently there are no items for sale to benefit our
organization, but you can help!

Be the first to list an item and help our cause today."

This is supposed to be a non profit set up...
I went and read the financials on them and somethings smells (NO STINKS).

Below is how much EBAY paid them in 2011 ($1,365,794) and yet they skim a Min. of $1.00 from ANY donation.

EBAY, INC C 615,794.CASH CONTRIBUTIONS

EBAY, INC K 750,000.CASH PAYMENT FOR SERVICES

Along with these contributions from EBAY their FEES (that WE paid) in 2011 totaled $295,000

Just check out their 990 form here:

http://donationsstatic.ebay.com/extend/images/newsletter/PAYPAL_CHARITABLE_GIVING_FUND_2011_PUBLIC_RETURN_SIGNED.PDF

Note how much they pay their 4 employees also note how many millions they send to the UK for GRANTMAKING (OVER 4 Million)

Boy you think you are doing a good thing and then you find out you are lining others pockets
